Imagine a neighborhood where you can find trendy bars and restaurants, bike paths in the middle of nature and even a beach, and which is also ideally located on the Island of Montreal. We can tell you: yes it is possible, and this neighborhood is Verdun!\u00a0 A former working-class neighborhood with a French name, it has become one of the most sought-after areas of Montreal since the year 2000.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What to discover in Verdun<\/b><\/h4>\n

Located on the southwestern part of the island of Montreal, directly on the shore of the St. Lawrence River, Verdun has the advantage of being a very green area while offering its residents the advantages of a central area of Montreal. Indeed, the neighborhood offers quick access to downtown (notably via three metro stations on the green line) as well as to several popular places, such as the Atwater Market or the Old Port and the Lachine Canal.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Verdun, there is a full range of activities, many of which are in nature: walking, biking, soccer, dancing with its outdoor hall, as well as swimming. A beach was inaugurated three years ago, to the delight of all Montrealers. And as a bonus, the neighborhood offers easy access to the Lachine Rapids for surfing enthusiasts! <\/span><\/p>\n

It is also a neighborhood where cultural events are regularly organized (notably at the recent and unmissable Maison de la Culture: circus, visual arts, concerts and shows galore) and where neighborhood life is very dynamic. Wellington Street (the Well<\/em>), the main artery of the district, contributes to this with its many local businesses. <\/span><\/p>\n

Don’t miss the Cha Noir tea house, the zero-waste grocery store Le 5\u00e8me, or the Benelux, a brewery that has taken up residence in a building that used to house a bank, the remains of which are easily recognizable. Its small back terrace is a plus, as for many places in the area!<\/span><\/p>\n

What about real estate in Verdun?<\/b><\/h4>\n
